PINE HILL PRESERVE
Estabished to protect the rare and endangered plants that grow on the gabbro
soils of western El Dorado County. EDCWA is also a Pine Hill Preserve partner.
UPPER AMERICAN RIVER PROJECT
The El Dorado Water & Power Authority (”EDWPA”) has reached an agreement with
the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (”SMUD”) on water storage in SMUD’s Upper
American Project. Now EDWPA is seeking water rights by filing an application
with the State Water Resources Control Board.
HYDROELECTRIC DEVELOPMENT OPTIONS IN EL DORADO COUNTY
Hydro Development on the Western Slope of El Dorado County is being studied to provide power generation on the natural rivers of El Dorado County. Being able to capture Hydro power is an existing source of revenue by way of the natural water flows.
IOWA HILL
The proposed Iowa Hill Pumped-Storage Development project is a project that SMUD
would like to include in their relicense. Since the project is near the communities of
Camino, Swansboro/Mosquito, Pollock Pines, and the city of Placerville, the Iowa Hill
Joint Advisory Committee formed to allow the residents of the affected communities
to get together with SMUD personnel and County officials to discuss and work out
details of how the project can or will affect the community.
FAZIO
EDCWA on behalf of the El Dorado Irrigation District and Georgetown Divide Public
Utility District are trying to obtain water transfers from the Central Valley Project.
Contracts are negotiated under Public Law 101-514.
