Monitoring and controlling communicable diseases in El Dorado County is one of the major responsibilities of the Health Services Department Public Health Division. All health care providers in El Dorado County are required by law to notify the Health Services Department of reportable, confirmed or suspicious cases of communicable disease.

The Health Services Department also works closely with the California Department of Health Services and federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to monitor and control communicable diseases.
