The Change From "A-B-C" to "C-A-B"
The newest development in the 2010 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC is a change in the basic life support (BLS) sequence of steps from "A-B-C" (Airway, Breathing, Chest compressions) to "C-A-B" (Chest compressions, Airway, Breathing) for adults and pediatric patients (children and infants, excluding newly borns). Although the experts agreed that it is important to reduce time to first chest compressions, they were aware that a change in something as established as the A-B-C sequence would require re-education of everyone who has ever learned CPR. To All El Dorado County Paramedics
The El Dorado County EMS Agency would like to share with you the attached Zofran Trial Study Poster (click here) that was accepted for presentation at the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) Annual Scientific Assembly. The study is in the process of being approved for publication in some upcoming professional EMS and Emergency Medicine Journals. This research study is the culmination of all the data compiled during the year and a half long trial study. El Dorado County was one of the participant EMS systems in this study. It truly represents all of your diligence in carefully documenting each use of Zofran and the associated patient response and/or adverse reactions. The results of this study has translated into the approval of Zofran for use in EMS systems in California. Your contributions to this research trial study are recognized and truly appreciated. Great work everybody!
