Water Well Program
The Water Well Program is conducted to protect the
health, safety, and general welfare of the people of the County
by ensuring that the groundwaters of the County will not be polluted
or contaminated. Permits are required for the construction, destruction,
deepening, and repair of a water well. Drillers are required to
follow the California Water Well Standards, Bulletin 74-81 and supplements,
developed by the California Department of Water Resources. Environmental
Health reviews permits submitted by Licensed Well Drillers for setback
and development issues; and conducts inspections as required on
specific parcels prior to permit approval, during the placement
of the annular seal, and at any other time deemed necessary. Well
completion reports are required to be submitted within 60 days of
well completion and are reviewed prior to final of the well permit.
