ARB: Renovation/Demolition of Buildings containing Regulated Asbestos-Containing Material (pdf)

Naturally occurring asbestos (NOA) is prevalent in at least 44 of California's 58 counties. Asbestos is the name for a group of naturally occurring silicate minerals, and may be found in serpentine rock, the California State rock, other ultramafic rock, and volcanic rock. When rock containing NOA is broken or crushed, asbestos may be released from the rock and may become airborne, potentially causing a health hazard.
