HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
This is a federally funded direct payment program to assist income eligible households in offsetting the cost of heating and/or cooling their homes. Eligible applicants may have specific payment amounts credited to their utility accounts or may receive assistance in obtaining firewood, propane, pellets, or heating oil. Priority is given to the elderly and disabled.
The 2011 HEAP Program has Closed. We are no longer accepting applications at this time.
**UPDATE: The 2012 HEAP Season will open on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 2012.Due to limited funding, applications for 2012 HEAP will only be accepted from households with the highest energy burden that have at least one of the following living in the home: child(ren) under 5, disabled individual(s) or individual(s) over the age of 60. Households needing assistance with offsetting their utility costs are encouraged to contact their utility companies for payment assistance programs or contact community organizations for available resources. Applicants are encouraged to check program status by either calling 530-621-6150 and listening to the recorded message, check the HEAP Webpage, or stop by the HEAP Office to check for program status.
