California Children's Services (CCS) [top]
CCS helps families with children who have serious medical conditions. It provides diagnosis and treatment services, medical case management, physical and occupational therapy services to children with eligible medical conditions (from birth to age 21).

Child Health and Disability Prevention Program (CHDP) [top]
CHDP provides complete health and dental assessments for early detection and prevention of diseases and disabilities in children and youth (including school entry exams, sports physicals and immunizations). Serves:
- Medi-Cal eligible children birth through 20 years
- Low income children at or below 200 percent of poverty, birth through 18 years

Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (CLPPP) [top]
Many children are exposed to lead in the home through lead-based paint and every day objects. Lead poisoning can cause learning disabilities, behavioral problems, and, at very high levels, seizures, coma, and even death. Children under the age of 6 are at greatest risk. Public Health can help parents assess the lead danger in their home, and can test blood for lead.

Health Care Program for Children in Foster Care (HCPCFC) [top]
Public Health nurses are located in county child welfare service agencies and probation departments to provide expertise in meeting the medical, dental, mental and developmental needs of children and youth in foster care. The nurses:
- Advocate for the health needs of the child
- Provide medical case planning and coordination
- Serve as a resource to facilitate referrals to early intervention providers
- Oversee the creation and updating of the Health and Education Passport

Health Ministry Liaison [top]
The Health Ministry liaison program supports faith communities that are beginning or expanding their Health Ministry/Parish Nurse programs through consultation and opportunities for networking to promote interdisciplinary education and development.

Immunizations [top]
The Immunization Program protects the community through immunizations for people all ages. Services include infant and adolescent immunizations, community flu shot clinics, and pneumonia and tetanus shots. Vaccines are available at the Public Health clinics in Placerville and South Lake Tahoe by appointment. To schedule an appointment, call (530) 621-6100 in the Placerville area or (530) 573-3155 in the South Lake Tahoe area.
Many families qualify for immunizations at no or low cost. Childhood Immunizations will be provided through the Health Services Department regardless of your ability to pay. Maternal Child and Adolescent Health (MCAH) [top]
The MCAH program helps women, children and their families access care and improve their health. Services are free of charge and include:
- Assessing health and psychosocial needs
- Consultation and teaching about illness and disease
- Helping families access medical systems and find specialty care Information on how to have a healthy pregnancy and caring for your child
- Home visits

Maternal Child Adolescent Health Needs Assessment 2010-2014 [top]
The Maternal Child Adolescent Health Needs Assessment is conducted every five years by the local jurisdiction MCAH program in collaboration with local entities working with the target population: women of childbearing age and their children. The primary goal of this project is to evaluate the needs and assets of the local MCAH systems and make recommendations on strengthening them. The main focus of the 2010 endeavor is to assess the capacity of the local MCAH system to carry out the Ten Essential Public Health Services to promote maternal and child health in America.
School Based Collaboratives [top]
A students' health, and their capacity to learn, is enhanced through the support of families, schools, and communities working together. Public Health Nurses provide adjunctive services on some school campuses and offer services including:
- Health education
- Physical education
- Nutrition assessment
- Health assessment
- Psychological and counseling services referrals
- Health promotion for staff
